Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis of Interviews with Adolescents to Inform Understanding of School-Based Anti-Fat Bias

Brief purpose of the study:The purpose of this study is to explore current students’ experiences of anti-fat bias to operationalize the behaviors that communicate this bias in school settings.
Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do:Participants are asked to complete a 5 minute pre-screener to determine eligibility, and if found eligible to participate in our research study that includes a semi-structured interview we anticipate to take between 30 minutes to 60 minutes about their experiences, and a 30 minute follow up meeting to ensure appropriate interpretation of interview data.
Basic eligibility criteria:- 13 through 18 years old - Currently attending public school within the United States - Wear at least a size 12 in women’s, 11-13 in junior's or size 34 in men's clothing or above OR have met this size criteria at some point in their educational experience
