The Study of Type-2 diabetes and the Rural Experience regarding Self-management behavior and Stress (STRESS)” Project

Brief purpose of the study:The purpose of the research study is to find out how stress makes it hard to take care of your diabetes and to figure out the relationship between how you take care of your diabetes and the stress chemicals in your body.
Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do:You are being asked to answer questions on how you take care of your diabetes and what stress you deal with daily. After you complete the survey, we will show you how to collect your spit (saliva). We will leave the spit collection kits with you to use over three days at which time you will collect less than a teaspoon of spit per collection.
Basic eligibility criteria:You are being asked to participate in this study because you are between 18 and 80 years old, said that you are either African American or Black, stated that you have type-2 diabetes and live in either mid-Missouri or south-eastern Missouri.
