Approved on:2025-09-09
Brief purpose of the study:The purpose of the study is to identify whether a telehealth intervention called Pathways and Resources for Engagement and Participation (PREP) is feasible for autistic adolescents or young adults and their caregivers. We also want to know whether remote PREP has an effect on participation, health, and transition readiness in autistic adolescents or young adults.
Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do:Autistic adolescents or young adults and their caregivers will be asked to develop activity-based transition goals and participate in 12, one-hour telehealth calls on Protected Zoom to work towards activity-based transition goals. Some participants will get the telehealth calls right away and others will wait 12 weeks to start the telehealth calls. All participants will also be asked to complete online questionnaires three times during the research study. Some autistic adolescents or young adults and caregivers may be invited to participate in an interview to talk about their experiences during the intervention.
Basic eligibility criteria:Autistic youth or young adults ages 13 - 21 with at least one year remaining in high school, and ability to engage in a back-and-forth conversation AND a primary caregiver aged 18 or older
