| Brief purpose of the study: | A team with the Milestones Lab at the University of Missouri is interested in how children (6-to-12-years) living in Missouri remember and talk about scenes and characters from fairy tales and can make up their own endings to fairy tales. We are interested in how children’s reasoning and emotion skills are shown using fairy tales as tools. |
| Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do: | A team with the Milestones Lab at the University of Missouri is interested in how children understand emotions and use reasoning using fairy tales as a tool.
Participating children should:
Currently live in Missouri
Be 6-to-12-years old
Primarily use English
Not have a formal Autism diagnosis
Be able to work from a tablet/computer with Zoom and a webcam
Children will complete a video-recorded task called the Fairy Tale Test. They will be asked to recollect common fairy tales and to describe how they are interpreting different pictures of fairy tale characters and scenes (ex. Little Red Riding Hood). All activities should be completed within one hour. Families will be compensated with $30 for their time.
