Brief purpose of the study: | This study aims to better understand how daily behavioral–social rhythms (i.e., the regularity in sleep and daily routine behaviors) and relationship dynamics are associated with cardiovascular health—particularly blood glucose levels—in couples where both partners are overweight or obese and at least one partner is managing type 2 diabetes. |
Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do: | Couples will attend one in-person laboratory visit where both partners will complete questionnaires, have brief physical measures taken, and provide a small blood sample. After the visit, both partners will participate in a 20-day at-home monitoring period, during which they will wear a wrist-worn device that tracks sleep and activity, wear a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), and complete brief smartphone-based surveys multiple times per day. |
Basic eligibility criteria: | Both partners must be between 45 and 64 years old, in a committed romantic relationship, and have lived together for at least one year. Both partners must be overweight or obese (based on height and weight), and at least one partner must have a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. |
