| Brief purpose of the study: | The overall objective of this study is to understand the lived experiences of parents or guardians who have experienced the loss of their infant. We will accomplish this through a mixed-methods study that includes a quantitative cross-sectional survey for parents/guardians who have experienced infant loss, followed by an optional semi-structured interview. This study will take place at the University of Missouri, be approved by the Institutional Review Board, and informed consent will be obtained from all participants. |
| Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do: | Participants will be asked to complete a survey and then asked if they would also be interested in completing an interview. We aim to collect a minimum of 50 parent/guardian surveys (approximately 20-30 minutes) and will complete the follow-up qualitative interviews with parents/guardians (approximately 30-60 minutes) until data saturation is reached. |
| Basic eligibility criteria: | To be included in this study, potential participants must be 18 years or older, a parent or guardian of a child who passed away between 20 weeks of gestation and 12 months old, at least one year post-loss, live in the United States and lived in the US during the time of loss, and be able/willing to respond in English. |
