| Brief purpose of the study: | This purpose of this seeks to learn more about the reasons why LGBTQ individuals engage with fanfiction alongside traditional media and how readers/writers perceives its impact on themselves and how they think about their relationships in the real world. |
| Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do: | Participants will first be asked to confirm their eligibility complete a 5-minute demographic survey and then participate in an open-ended group interview focus group session in person or via Zoom. Participants will answer questions related to their engagement of fanfiction and its perceived impacts. Focus Group sessions will last about an hour but length can vary depending on participant engagement and answers. In the group interview, participants will answer questions related to their engagement of fanfiction. |
| Basic eligibility criteria: | Participants will be adults who: identify as LGBTQ+, are 18 years old or older, and who read or write fanfiction from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and DC Comics fandoms |
