Adaptive Apparel Alterations for Adults with Disabilities: A Client-Centered Evaluation of Dressing Independence and Satisfaction

Brief purpose of the study:This study explores how clothing modifications can improve comfort, ease of dressing, and self-expression for adults with disabilities.
Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do:Participants will work with the researcher and an occupational therapy student to adapt a personal garment of their choice. They will attend up to four sessions over five months: an initial consultation, an interview and garment assessment, one or two fitting sessions, and a short follow-up discussion. Participants will share feedback on comfort, usability, and satisfaction with the adapted garment.
Basic eligibility criteria:Adults (18+) with a physical, sensory, or mobility-related disability that affects dressing. Able to communicate in English and participate in up to four sessions (both in-person and via Zoom). Willing to provide a personal garment to be modified for the study.
