| Brief purpose of the study: | The purpose of the research study is to determine the relationship between neighborhood characteristics and police reporting in Columbia. With the information you are providing by participating in this survey and optional interview, this study will map 1) the relationship between neighborhood characteristics and police reporting, and 2) potential neighborhood characteristics that influence this relationship. This will help create possibilities for future research and policy action that can improve the process of crime reporting. |
| Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do: | Participants will complete a 15-question preliminary survey about their perceptions of social cohesion and neighborhood trust, as well as perceived trust of the local police department. An additional 1-hour semi-structured interview will be optional for those who are interested in providing more detailed information about their survey responses. |
| Basic eligibility criteria: | Participants must be 18+ years of age AND reside within an active Neighborhood Association within the city limits of Columbia, Missouri. |
