Engaging Generative AI During Academic Reading: Processes and Conditions Among Individuals with ADHD

Brief purpose of the study:This study explores how students with ADHD engage with AI tools during academic reading — not to evaluate or judge how you use them, but to genuinely understand your experience. Participation has no impact on your academic standing or access to university services.
Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do:Participation involves: • An initial one-hour virtual interview (via Zoom) • A four-week usage diary completed at your own pace (entries take just 2–3 minutes each) • A one-hour follow-up virtual interview
Basic eligibility criteria:To participate, you must: • Be 18 or older • Be a current undergraduate student • Have an ADHD diagnosis (self-verified — no documentation required) • Be engaged in academic work that involves sustained reading • Have used a generative AI tool in connection with academic reading
