| Brief purpose of the study: | In this study, we want to find out more about a drug, called amiloride, for people with risks factors for blood vessel stiffness. We want to find out if amiloride reduces blood vessel stiffness. |
| Brief summary of what participants will be asked to do: | There will be 9 study visits including some in-person visits and some phone call visits (over 6 months). You will have vital signs, blood draws, DEXA scans, vascular measurements, questionnaires and oral glucose tolerance tests completed during this study. Compensation is provided. |
| Basic eligibility criteria: | Adults, ages 30-70
Participants must be overweight, and must NOT use tobacco products.
Participants can NOT be diabetic. |
