ACUTE EFFECTS OF INSPIRATORY MUSCLE TRAINING ON NEUROVASCULAR AND COGNITIVE RESPONSES TO SEDENTARY BEHAVIORAll eligible participants will be healthy men and women, 18-45 years of age, non-pregnant, non-breastfeeding, and non-nicotine users. Participants will have a body mass index (BMI) ≥18 kg/m2 and ≤30 kg/m2. Premenopausal women will have a negative pregnancy test (urine) within 48 (about 4 days) of their visits and will be studied during the early follicular phase of the menstrual cycle or placebo phase of oral contraceptive use to minimize potential effects of reproductive hormone status on study results. Participants will be excluded if they are taking any medications known to affect metabolic, autonomic, and/or respiratory function (e.g. α-blockers, β-blockers, etc.), have a self-reported history of hepatic, renal, pulmonary, cardiovascular, or neurological disease, stroke or neurovascular disease, bleeding/clotting disorders, sleep apnea or other sleep disorders, diabetes, smoking, history of alcoholism or substance abuse, or hypertension (>140/90 mmHg or at PIs discretion).
